Waters Does Lennon

I’ve done some fun things recently that I thought worth writing about. One was coming second in a trivia night at a local women’s club with a group of friends. Second was going to hear John Waters do a tribute concert to John Lennon.

John Waters is an Australian actor/singer who is currently playing Dr Vlasek on All Saints every Tuesday night on Channel 7. He’s quite the rogue, having recently come off some addictive substance — the character not the actor. Waters also created a show called ‘Looking Through a Glass Onion’, first done in 1991. The show this Wednesday night was a new version of it at The Drum Theatre in Dandenong. The songs were classic Lennon, including classics like Beautiful Boy, Norwegian Wood, Revolution, and the anthem Imagine. The final long encore ended with Stand By Me, and Twist and Shout. Clapping and singing under my breath, I was transported back 30 years to a time of great experimentation, vibrance, and youth.
